Sophia Eckardt, an 18-year-old athlete from Gansevoort, has recently earned a spot on the U.S. Equestrian Team and will be representing the country in South Africa for the International Saddle Seat Equitation World Cup in December. Sophia has been riding at Rolling Oaks since she was seven years old and has a deep passion for sharing her love of the sport with people of all ages.
Sophia expressed her excitement about being part of the U.S. Equestrian Team, where members come from different parts of the country. She emphasized the importance of equitation in the World Cup, which focuses on form and presentation. Riding has been a significant part of Sophia’s life, and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to compete on an international stage.
In addition to her equestrian accomplishments, Sophia is also completing her senior year at Saratoga Springs High School. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of New Hampshire in the fall. With a busy year ahead of her, Sophia is looking forward to all the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead.
Sophia’s love for horses started when she was just six years old, and it quickly became a passion that consumed her every waking moment. She spent countless hours training at Rolling Oaks under some of the best instructors in the world.
As she grew older, Sophia began competing on a national level and quickly rose through the ranks. Her hard work and dedication paid off when she was selected to represent team USA at this prestigious event.
Sophia’s parents are incredibly proud of their daughter’s achievements and know that this is only just the beginning for her career in equestrian sports.
