These subsidies were made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, which expanded the availability of financial assistance through the marketplace, and the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which extended these benefits through 2025.

Insurance Commissioner Gordon Ito encourages consumers to shop and compare plans during this enrollment period to see if they are eligible for enhanced subsidies that could lower their premiums. He also reminds them of the importance of understanding what their health insurance policy covers and identifying current healthcare needs such as services, healthcare providers, and prescription drugs.
