The ongoing military offensive in the Lake Chad region, which borders Nigeria, Cameroon, and Chad, has resulted in the death of 70 jihadists, as announced by the Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTF). The MJTF consists of troops from Benin, Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger, and Chad who have been involved in a series of attacks.

In recent years, jihadist groups such as Boko Haram have been a growing concern in the region. These extremist factions have instigated violence that has resulted in the deaths of at least 40,000 individuals and displaced approximately 2 million people in Nigeria alone.

The Nigerian military intensified airstrikes on terrorist camps along Lake Chad in response to deadly attacks on fishermen. Over the past fifteen years, jihadist groups have been a growing concern in the region. The violence instigated by these extremist factions has resulted in the deaths of at least 40,000 individuals with approximately 2 million people being displaced.
