Stop by the Kaua‘i District Health Office this Friday

Kaua’i District Health Office (KDHO) is hosting an open house on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in celebration of National Public Health Week. The event, located on Umi Street near the elections building and Central Pacific Bank building, offers the public an opportunity to engage with Hawai’i State Department of Health staff and learn about various programs and actions that can address public health challenges.

Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua’i District Health Officer, expressed her excitement for the event, stating that National Public Health Week encourages exploration of the various programs and services offered by the Department of Health. She aims to enhance the well-being of the community through collaboration with community members and partners. This open house serves as a way to show gratitude to the community for their ongoing support in creating a healthier and thriving Kaua’i.

The open house will provide attendees with information on public health career paths and educational opportunities. Invitees include high schools, senior citizen clubs, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami, the Kaua’i County Council, the governor’s liaison, and Kaua’i’s legislative team. Various Department of Health professionals such as vector control experts, community health workers, public health nurses, mental health professionals will be available to provide information on their respective fields.

National Public Health Week is observed during the first week of April across the United States as communities come together to recognize the importance of public health. This year’s theme “Protecting, Connecting, and Thriving: We Are All Public Health” highlights the collective effort needed to improve nationwide health outcomes.

The open house is an excellent opportunity for members of the community to connect with state department officials and gain insights into how they can contribute towards improving public health in their area.

In conclusion, this open house is an excellent chance for people in Kauai to meet with representatives from Hawaii State Department of Health and learn more about ways they can make a difference in improving public health outcomes on their island home. With continued support from community members like this one, we can work together towards a healthy future for all residents in Hawaii!
