Special solar eclipse event offered at Kentucky Science Center

The Kentucky Science Center in Louisville is set to host a special event in honor of the upcoming solar eclipse. This unique experience will take place on April 8 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is open to all visitors with free admission.

During the event, guests will have access to all 50,000 square feet of the Kentucky Science Center’s exhibits and galleries, featuring special programming throughout the space. Activities include educational programs about the eclipse, viewing safety, cultural interpretations of eclipses and constellations, as well as an opportunity to view the partial eclipse live.

Guests can participate in various hands-on activities such as creating pinhole cameras, watching live coverage of the eclipse from NASA, and engaging in interactive educational programs about gravity and UV rays. Additionally, documentary screenings of Journey to Space 3-D will be available in the center’s four-story theater, exploring NASA’s Space Shuttle program and other space-related topics.

Kentucky Science Center CEO Mike Norman expressed his excitement about hosting this event and connecting with guests from the region while sharing insights into the science behind the eclipse. The event is made possible through a partnership with NASA Kentucky Space Grant. The Kentucky Science Center is located at 727 W. Main Street and is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
