In New Orleans, Adam Deitch of Break Science had a packed week of beat-making. With Borahm Lee, he headlined Daze Between New Orleans with Lettuce and special guest John Scofield. He also hosted the band’s annual RAGE!FEST.
On the second Saturday of Jazz Fest, Deitch played double drums alongside Dumpstaphunk‘s Deven Trusclair at Crescent City Classics: A Celebration of New Orleans Funk. The event, presented by Live For Live Music as part of the Fest By Nite late-night series, drew a sold-out crowd to the upscale Joy Theater and was one of the most electric shows of the season.
Later that night, Deitch headed over to Toulouse Theatre for a 2 a.m. Break Science dance party where psychedelic projections transformed the venue creating an otherworldly atmosphere for the bass-heavy set that had the crowd rocking. The duo’s unique blend of electronic beats and live instrumentation made for a one-of-a-kind Jazz Fest experience.
On Sunday night at Blue Nile, Deitch played with his own quartet, showcasing his talents throughout the week from classic funk to electronic dance music to traditional jazz.
