Report: Veteran Bangladeshi Pacer Misses T20 World Cup Game Against India After Oversleeping

Taskin Ahmed, a veteran fast bowler for the Bangladesh cricket team, missed the T20 World Cup 2024 match against India due to oversleeping. According to a report, Taskin was sleeping in his room when the team management tried to reach him. Despite efforts, they were unable to contact him and ended up missing the team bus before the game. As a result, a team official had to stay back at the hotel to contact Taskin, who eventually joined the squad late at the venue.

Fans and experts were surprised that Taskin was not included in the playing XI against India. The head coach decided not to include him in the playing XI for the India game, opting instead for Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mustafizur Rahman as the fast bowlers.

Despite his late arrival, Taskin played in the next game against Afghanistan. An official confirmed that Taskin apologized to everyone for oversleeping and missing the bus, urging not to make a big issue out of it. Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha did not comment on the matter.

India went on to win the match against Bangladesh by 50 runs, with notable performances from Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Shivam Dube. Their strong batting display secured a crucial victory in the T20 World Cup 2024.
