New College Basketball Crown Tournament from Fox Sports Set to Debut in 2025 as NIT Rival

The NIT rival, the 16-team College Basketball Crown tournament, has been officially announced by Fox Sports. The tournament will feature schools that did not qualify for the men’s NCAA Tournament. There will be automatic bids given to two squads from the Big Ten, Big 12, and Big East conferences, all of which have television agreements with Fox Sports. The remaining teams will be at-large participants.

The tournament will take place at the MGM Garden Arena and MGM Arena in Vegas from March 31, 2025 to April 6. AEG is a presenting sponsor of the event, which will be aired on both Fox and FS1. The NIT is a consolation tournament for teams that missed out on the NCAAAs. However, some teams opted out of participating in the NIT this year in order to focus on the transfer portal like Rick Pitino’s St. John’s.

This year’s NIT final is set to take place on ESPN and will feature a matchup between Indiana State and Seton Hall.
