Celebrating Women’s Contributions in Forensic Science: Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center

Dr. Steadman, the head of the center, stated that they have a total of 43 employees, with 34 of them being women. Sara Rogers, a Firearms Examiner at the center, expressed how she believes that gun enthusiasts are typically viewed as male. However, she has taken on the role with expertise and is able to analyze ammunition components to determine if they were discharged by a specific firearm. Despite not having a personal passion for firearms growing up in a state with strict regulations, Rogers now carries out her duties efficiently. She acknowledged that her job is to work with firearms and does so professionally.
