On Sunday at 9:35 a.m., a traffic accident occurred on the A1 highway near Drežnik, Karlovac, reports the Karlovac Police Department. According to them, a 55-year-old man driving a passenger car with Ogulin license plates hit the rear of a police vehicle with Zagreb license plates driven by a 56-year-old man due to inappropriate speed. The force of the impact threw both vehicles into a metal guardrail and bounced back onto the roadway.
The 55-year-old man was seriously injured in the traffic accident, while the driver of the police vehicle and his passenger were slightly injured. For causing the traffic accident, the 56-year-old driver will be issued a mandatory misdemeanor order, and a report will be forwarded to the competent state attorney.
The police department is reminding all drivers to adhere to speed limits and drive safely on public roads. The central belt is particularly vulnerable to accidents due to its heavy traffic and congestion, so it’s important for everyone on it to remain vigilant and follow all safety regulations.
