Brussels Airlines is bracing for a busy summer season, with plans to transport over 1.2 million travelers in July and August. The airline made this announcement in a press release on Monday.
To accommodate the increased summer traffic, Brussels Airlines has hired more than 180 additional cabin crew and 64 additional pilots. The airport teams will also be reinforced with 40 new check-in staff, along with 70 student workers assisting the ground staff. This preparation aims to ensure smooth operations during the busy summer months.
During the summer, European islands are proving to be popular destinations, with full flights to Zakynthos, Corfu, and Rhodes in Greece, as well as Gran Canaria, Mallorca, and Lanzarote in Spain. City trips to destinations with milder climates like Gothenburg and Stockholm in Sweden are also in high demand.
Beyond Europe, many Belgians are choosing to travel to the United States, with direct flights to New York and Washington DC. Collaborations with travel organizations have also led to full flights to destinations like Hurghada in Egypt and Antalya in Turkey.
One of the most exciting events that Brussels Airlines is looking forward to is party flights bringing more than 20,000 party goers to Belgium for the Tomorrowland festival. A new ‘Amare’ aircraft will be used specifically for these flights.
