Celtics’ Frontcourt Depth: Tillman Returns on Two-Year Contract, Prepares for Key Role in NBA Championship Defense”.

The Boston Celtics have successfully re-signed key players from their 2024 NBA championship team, with Xavier Tillman being the latest to return to the team. Tillman, 25, has reportedly signed a two-year contract with the Celtics, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Originally acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for future second-round picks before the 2024 trade deadline, Tillman proved to be a valuable asset for the Celtics during the regular season and playoffs. In 54 games, he averaged 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds, providing much-needed frontcourt depth when star player Kristaps Porzingis was sidelined with injury.

Tillman’s standout performance in Game 1 of the NBA Finals further solidified his importance to the team, showcasing his skills with rebounds, blocks, and even a crucial 3-pointer that energized the TD Garden crowd.

As Porzingis is expected to be out until November or December and veteran Al Horford needs rest, Tillman will continue to play a key role in the Celtics’ frontcourt. The team has also made moves to secure other players, including exercising Sam Hauser’s team option, retaining Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta in free agency, and extending contracts for stars Jayson Tatum and Derrick White.

The remaining free agents for the Celtics include Oshae Brissett, Svi Mykhailiuk, JD Davison
