Celtics Shore Up Frontcourt with Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta Re-Signings

The Boston Celtics moved quickly to solidify their frontcourt during NBA free agency on Sunday. After re-signing Luke Kornet to a one-year deal, the team brought back Neemias Queta on a multi-year contract.

Queta, who just turned 25, originally signed a two-way contract with the Celtics last year and impressed enough during the season to earn a standard contract in April. In his first season with Boston, Queta averaged 5.5 points and 4.4 rebounds in limited playing time. He made history as the first Portuguese NBA player to win a championship. With Kristaps Porzingis expected to be out until November or December, the Celtics needed depth in the frontcourt, making Queta’s return even more crucial.

Meanwhile, Kornet’s re-signing provides additional depth for the Celtics as they navigate Porzingis’ injury and manage Al Horford’s workload. With only five players remaining on the free-agent market for Boston, decisions will need to be made on Xavier Tillman, JD Davison, Oshae Brissett, Svi Mykhailiuk, and restricted free agent Drew Peterson.
