Childish Gambino, the rapper and actor, has recently announced the release of his final album under the name “Bando Stone & The New World,” which is set to be released on July 19th. To coincide with this album announcement, he has dropped the first single called “Lithonia,” named after a city located just east of Atlanta where his TV show is set. The single represents a departure from Gambino’s usual sound, with heavy guitars and reverb vocals delving into rock territory.
In addition to the album release news, Gambino has also premiered a trailer for his upcoming film “Bando Stone & The New World.” The film features him as the lead character who navigates through an empty world and eventually encounters a mother and her son with whom he fights for survival in a dystopian society filled with giant squids and menacing bird-like creatures. Gambino will also host an interactive listening experience for “Bando Stone & The New World” on July 6th at Little Island in New York City. Tickets are available for purchase starting at 10 a.m. ET tomorrow.
To mark this new chapter, Childish Gambino plans to embark on his New World Tour. The tour begins on August 11th in Oklahoma City, OK, with stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Chicago before traveling overseas to Europe and Australia. Willow and Aamarae are confirmed to support on the tour. In April, he initially announced his final two albums in a conversation about his Gilga project, revealing plans to release two new Childish Gambino albums under the name “Bando Stone & The New World”.
