Marshall Harris departs CBS 2 Chicago; Ryan Baker transitions to sports department

Ryan Baker is returning to the role of sports director at CBS 2 after spending time as a co-host on morning news. The Sun-Times has learned that previous sports director, Marshall Harris, has left the station. Harris expressed his gratitude for his time at CBS Chicago and is currently enjoying the summer season in Chicago before moving on to new projects.

Harris joined CBS Chicago in July 2021 from KOVR in Sacramento, California, where he replaced Baker who had transitioned to co-host morning news. Prior to joining CBS Chicago, Harris worked at NBC Sports Philadelphia, Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh, and the Big Ten Network. He is originally from Huntsville, Alabama and graduated from Mississippi State.

On the other hand, Baker is a native of south suburban Phoenix and graduated from Thornridge High School in 1987 and the University of Illinois in 1991 where he was a student manager for the celebrated 1989 Flyin’ Illini basketball team. Before joining CBS 2, Baker spent five years as a sports anchor at NBC 5. Both Harris and Baker have deep roots in the sports journalism industry and will continue to contribute their expertise to the Chicago media landscape.
