Fatbike XC courses could be a more practical and exciting alternative to using bikes as substitutes for skis in slalom skiing. These courses would still require the fundamental skills of XC racing but in a unique format. Another suggestion would be to create a “skiercross but on bikes” event, similar to Dual Slalom but with larger and more elaborate courses. Using bikes instead of tires on these courses could add an extra level of excitement.
It’s also worth considering that snow is best left as the domain of skiing for those who enjoy traditional activities. For others, fatbiking through snowy woods may be a more suitable and enjoyable option. Ultimately, there are better options than using bikes as substitutes for skis in slalom skiing that the UCI can explore to make something more interesting to watch.
