Rosalynn Carter, the beloved wife of former US President Jimmy Carter, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 in her hometown of Plains, Georgia. It was announced last Friday that she was receiving palliative care at home after being diagnosed with dementia in May.

Rosalynn played a significant role in policy during her husband’s presidency and was known for her advocacy on social issues. She wrote several books and continued to campaign for various causes even after leaving the White House. Her influence and impact will be remembered by many, including her husband who praised her as his equal partner in all of his accomplishments.

Jimmy Carter served as US President from 1977 to 1981 and is the oldest living former president. He made it public earlier this year that he no longer wanted to take any further medical steps after a series of hospital stays. In September, he made a surprise public appearance at a peanut parade in his hometown with his wife.

Rosalynn Carter’s passing leaves behind a legacy of advocacy and dedication to her family and the nation. Her contributions will be deeply missed but will continue to inspire future generations of leaders to follow in her footsteps.
