From Croatia to the Indian Market: An Insight into Scotland’s Transfer Policies for the Upcoming Season

As Celtic continue their efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season, they have made an official offer of £7.6m to Fenerbahce for Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic. The 29-year-old player has been heavily sought after by several clubs, including Ipswich Town, who have also expressed interest in signing him.

Rangers are also facing a potential delay in bringing back 22-year-old forward Abdallah Sima from Ibrox after Brighton & Hove Albion want to give their new manager time to assess the squad. Meanwhile, the club is considering the option of signing Lawrence Shankland from Heart of Midlothian to strengthen their attacking options. The 28-year-old Scotland striker is reportedly open to making the move to Rangers if the clubs can agree on a suitable transfer fee.

Both Rangers and Celtic seem to be following a similar transfer policy, focusing on moderately priced signings that can be developed as projects rather than immediate first-team selections, with the hope of selling for a profit in the future.

In other news, Sandy Stewart, assistant manager to Owen Coyle at Chenaiyin, suggests that Scottish clubs should explore the Indian transfer market due to the improving standards driven by investments in grassroots and youth football.
