On July 4th, LSU received a significant boost to their 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star defensive tackle Zion Williams from Lufkin, Texas. The 6-foot-4, 330-pound prospect announced his decision to pledge to the Tigers just before 8 am CT. Williams is ranked as the No. 20 defensive tackle in his class and had offers from top programs like Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, USC, Florida, TCU, and Arkansas.
LSU’s 2025 class now has 13 commitments, with all but one being four-stars or better. Their class is currently ranked No. 11 in the Recruiting Team Rankings, with LSU having the fewest commitments of any team in the top-11. Joining Williams in the Tigers’ 2025 class is four-star defensive end LaJesse Harrold, making it two defensive linemen in the haul so far.
Despite focusing more on offense in this recruiting cycle – with nine offensive commitments compared to just four defensive commitments – LSU has made significant progress on defense. The addition of Williams and Harrold brings their total number of defenders committed for next year to six. With such a strong start to their recruitment efforts for the Class of 2025, LSU’s future looks bright on both sides of the ball.
