Haek Resigns as National Lottery CEO after Unsuccessful Mediation with Unions

The mediation procedure involving Jannie Haek, CEO of the National Lottery, has been unsuccessful, as confirmed by both the company and the unions. This was announced after multiple attempts to resolve the issues surrounding difficult social consultations within the government company and concerns about Haek’s behavior.

Haek apologized multiple times during the mediation process for his communication style that may have been perceived as intimidating, inappropriate, and hurtful due to the use of inappropriate language or tone. He also committed to working on improving his behavior. However, despite these efforts, trust has been completely eroded between Haek and the unions.

The decision now falls on the board of directors to make a decision regarding Haek’s future at National Lottery. The unions have chosen not to demand Haek’s dismissal but have left it in the hands of the board of directors. They expressed disappointment that the situation had escalated to this point despite their efforts to work positively towards a resolution.

Jannie Haek has been serving as CEO of National Lottery since 2013 with an annual fee of 290,000 euros. Despite a successful extension of his mandate in 2021, ongoing issues surrounding his behavior have led to a breakdown in trust and communication with the unions.
