Injured Slugger Martinez Scratched from Mets Game Against Nationals

Martinez has been scratched from Tuesday’s game against the Washington Nationals due to a sore left ankle, according to the Mets. The slugger has had a strong first season with the Mets, putting up impressive numbers in 56 games so far. Martinez has a batting average of .278, an on-base percentage of .360, and a slugging percentage of .853. He has hit 10 home runs and driven in 37 runs for the team.

Originally slated to bat third, Martinez will be replaced as the designated hitter by catcher Luis Torrens. Torrens will now bat sixth in the lineup behind Francisco Alvarez, with Mark Vientos moving up to the three-hole. No further information was provided regarding Martinez’s injury.
