Leading regions in the application of IoT for energy management include the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Andalusia, and Madrid. The report also shows that a significant portion of connected devices are being used for water consumption monitoring to detect leaks and prevent water waste, as well as for optimizing irrigation systems to save energy and resources.
IoT devices are also being utilized for crop monitoring to provide accurate data on soil conditions, humidity, and temperature, enabling farmers to optimize irrigation and fertilizer use. Another application is monitoring air quality, with devices dedicated to measuring pollutant concentrations in real-time, allowing for informed decisions on air conditioning and heating usage.
In addition to these applications, a percentage of IoT devices in Spain are dedicated to monitoring other energy consumption such as electricity and gas in buildings and homes. This data helps identify inefficient consumption patterns allowing for adjustments in household appliances use to improve energy efficiency.
