Italy began its Euro 2024 campaign with a crucial 2-1 victory over Albania, despite conceding the quickest goal in tournament history. The defending champions are now leading Group B alongside Spain.
In the first half, Albania’s Nedim Bajrami scored just 23 seconds into the game, leaving Italy struggling to keep up. However, Alessandro Bastoni equalized for Italy in the 11th minute with a free header from close range. Italy maintained control in the second half, but goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was forced to make a crucial save in injury time to secure the win.
Italy will face Spain next in a match that could determine the outcome of the group. Meanwhile, Albania will look to revive its campaign against Croatia.
