Japan recently unveiled new banknotes that feature enhanced security features and advanced hologram technology. The notes, which come in denominations of 10,000 yen, 5,000 yen, and 1,000 yen, are now available to consumers through banks and ATMs. This marks the first time in over 20 years that Japan has introduced new banknotes.
The new banknotes feature 3D holograms of historical figures who have made significant contributions to Japanese culture and science. The 10,000 yen note showcases Eiichi Shibusawa, known as the father of Japanese capitalism, while the 5,000 yen note features educator Umeko Tsuda, a pioneer in women’s rights. Microbiologist Shibasaburo Kitasato, considered the father of modern medicine in Japan, is honored on the 1,000 yen note.
