UN Special Rapporteur for Palestine Receives Threats Over Report of “Genocide” in Gaza

On Monday, Francesca Albanese presented a report that highlighted the signs of “genocide” by Israel against the Palestinian population during the military offensive in the Gaza Strip. Despite facing threats and attacks, Albanese remains committed to her work and believes that the evidence she has gathered is significant.

Albanese expressed disappointment at the lack of response from Western States to her report, calling it surprising and indicating that they should be questioned about their position on the matter. She emphasized that her role is to ensure that member states comply with international law and that her report reveals the humanitarian camouflage used by Israel to portray their actions as isolated incidents rather than systematic violations of human rights.

Her analysis includes criteria for genocide such as murder of group members, infliction of physical or mental harm, and deliberate destruction of living conditions. She believes that her report will shed light on the situation and push for accountability for Israel’s actions.

Despite challenges, Albanese remains undeterred and continues to amplify the voices of those affected by the conflict in Occupied Palestinian Territories. She is determined to pursue justice and uphold international law in the face of criticism and threats.
