King Charles has finally come out and addressed his cancer diagnosis, issuing a heartfelt statement to thank everyone for the well-wishes he has received. The monarch expressed his gratitude for the messages of support and good wishes he has received in recent days, acknowledging that such kind thoughts are a great comfort and encouragement.
In his statement issued by Buckingham Palace, King Charles also noted that sharing his own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of organizations that support cancer patients and their families. He expressed his admiration for their tireless care and dedication, which has grown as a result of his own personal experience with cancer.
The update comes nearly a week after the announcement of the King’s cancer diagnosis, which followed a surgery to treat his enlarged prostate. Before the announcement, King Charles personally phoned his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, to break the news. While Prince Harry has not publicly addressed the matter, he did arrive in London the day after the news broke to meet his father in-person.
