Wrighton appointed chair of Science Center board at The Source

Mark S. Wrighton, who holds the title of chancellor emeritus and James and Mary Wertsch Distinguished University Professor at Washington University in St. Louis, has recently been appointed as chair of the board of commissioners for the Saint Louis Science Center. His term began on January 1st. In this new role, he will collaborate closely with the center’s president to drive initiatives aimed at enhancing the institution.

The Saint Louis Science Center is a unique organization that aims to make science, technology, engineering, and mathematics accessible to not only the St. Louis region but also beyond through interactive experiences. It is one of the few free nonprofit science museums in the country and attracts nearly half a million visitors every year, making it one of the largest science centers in both the U.S. and abroad.

Prior to his work in university administration, Wrighton had an impressive background in research, with achievements in photochemistry, surface chemistry, and electrochemistry. He has also served on the board of commissioners for the Science Center for many years and was previously a member of its board of trustees as well.
