MEDINA — This November 25th, the City of Medina will be joining the nationwide movement to support small businesses by participating in Small Business Saturday. The event is part of a larger initiative called “Shop Small Movement,” founded by American Express in 2010 to help small businesses thrive.

Small Business Saturday is dedicated to promoting local businesses and communities across the country, and it takes place every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday during the peak holiday shopping season. In Medina, this year’s celebration will begin at 11 am with a table set up in the Huntington Bank lobby at 39 Public Square. There will be “Shop Small” handouts available as well as information about Medina’s vibrant small business community.

Santa Claus will also make an appearance at Wichert Insurance located at 119 N. Court St., dropping by from noon to 2 pm to spread holiday cheer and take pictures with children.

Recent statistics from Main Street Medina show that over 90% of the storefronts in the business district are filled with local, independent retail shops, boutiques, restaurants, pubs, and a variety of services. To learn more about these local businesses and how you can support them during Small Business Saturday, visit or contact Main Street Medina Executive Director George Sam at [george@mainstreetmedina.com](mailto:george@mainstreetmedina.com).
