However, it was discovered that genuine photos were mistakenly labeled as AI-generated, causing confusion among photographers. Meta found that the labeling was triggered by images that had been retouched or polished using AI tools in various software.
Photographers like former White House photographer Pete Souza expressed concern about how their authentic photos were being labeled as AI-generated. They believed that graphic processing in software like Adobe’s Photoshop could have triggered Meta’s algorithm to add the tag without their consent.
In response to these complaints, Meta announced that they have corrected the label to be added to images identified as made with artificial intelligence. The new label, AI info, will allow users to click for more information about why the label was added. This change aims to provide transparency and clarity for users.
