Corpse discovered in retention pond located behind Arlington business on Lee Road

On Tuesday morning, a man’s body was discovered in a Jacksonville retention pond. The incident occurred on Lee Road just north of Atlantic Boulevard, where officers responded to reports of a drowning around 8 a.m.

According to investigators, a person at a nearby business spotted the man’s body in the water and promptly notified 911. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office dive team and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department worked together to retrieve the man’s body from the pond, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Despite the lack of visible signs of trauma, police are currently treating this case as an undetermined death.

The pond is located on an empty lot near an abandoned house, leading authorities to believe that the man did not reside there. However, anyone who may have information regarding this incident is encouraged to reach out to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office through various channels such as phone, email, or CrimeStoppers. The investigation remains ongoing and more details may be released as they become available.
