Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has announced that linebacker Shaquille Leonard will be waived from the team. Although this news may be surprising, it is not unexpected given Leonard’s recent struggles with back injuries and decreased playing time.

Leonard, who was a second-round pick in 2018 and won defensive rookie of the year, as well as being named a first-team All-Pro, expressed his gratitude to the city of Indianapolis and its fans in a farewell message on social media. He thanked them for their support and love throughout his time with the team.

Despite his departure from the Colts, Leonard remains appreciative of the opportunities he had during his six years with the team. He will now be looking for a new team as a free agent, with the opportunity to sign a new contract elsewhere. Fans can expect to see him play again soon, but it remains to be seen where he will end up next season.
