Northern Michigan University and Marquette Junior Hockey have announced a partnership agreement that will provide numerous benefits for the area youth hockey program and its players. Under the agreement, NMU has designated one of its hockey games each season as Youth Hockey Night and will provide 20 complimentary tickets for each home game that can be distributed throughout the youth hockey organization.
In addition to advertising Marquette Junior Hockey in the Wildcats’ home Berry Events Center, discounts will be provided for its players to join the Young Wildcat Club. Fundraising opportunities are also being provided, such as being group game ushers, 50-50 raffle ticket sellers and chuck-a-puck sellers.
Marquette Junior Hockey President Ryan Higbie expressed his gratitude for the opportunities and visibility that this agreement will provide for their players in a recent news release announcing the partnership. He thanked NMU hockey coaches and athletic director Rick Comley for their enthusiasm for this partnership and looked forward to a successful season.
Comley, a former NMU head hockey coach himself, expressed his excitement about partnering with Marquette Junior Hockey and committing to growing the sport and developing young players locally. He saw this as a win-win partnership that would build the game and create lasting memories for athletes and their families.
