Neymar’s Injury to Keep Him Out of Start of Next Saudi Season

Neymar will miss the start of the upcoming Saudi Pro League season as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury, according to Al Hilal’s coach. The Brazilian forward sustained the injury in October and missed a significant portion of the current season. Despite his absence, Al Hilal still managed to secure their 19th league title earlier this month.

Al Hilal has two remaining matches in the current league campaign, and Coach Jorge Jesus stated that Neymar’s recovery time is estimated to be around 10 to 11 months, indicating that he will not be prepared for the start of pre-season training. This news comes as Neymar underwent surgery in Brazil in November to address a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus damage following his emotional departure from a World Cup qualifier after a collision with an opponent.

Neymar joined Al Hilal in 2023 after leaving PSG, becoming the latest high-profile footballer to join the Saudi Pro League. His earnings in Saudi Arabia are reported to be around 100 million euros per season, while PSG received 100 million euros in the transfer deal.
