Novak Djokovic returned to play at Wimbledon after undergoing knee surgery following his withdrawal from the French Open. The Serbian player expressed happiness with his performance and how he felt on the court during his first-round win over Vit Kopriva.
Despite wearing a knee support on his right leg, Djokovic showed no signs of discomfort as he dominated the match against the Czech qualifier. He broke Kopriva early in each set and displayed his defensive and offensive skills throughout the match. The Serb closed out the match with three consecutive aces, finishing in style and advancing to the second round.
Next, Djokovic will face either British wildcard Jacob Fearnley or Spanish qualifier Alejandro Moro Canas. The 37-year-old tennis star appears to be in good form as he continues his quest for another Wimbledon title. Fans are eagerly watching to see if Djokovic can make history by matching Federer’s impressive achievement at the prestigious tournament.
As he walked off Centre Court after winning in straight sets, Djokovic couldn’t help but feel proud of himself for returning to competition after such a long layoff. He had worked hard to recover from surgery and get back into shape, and now it was paying off on the court.
During his press conference after the match, Djokovic praised Kopriva for putting up a good fight but said that he was happy with how he played overall. “I’m very pleased with my performance,” he said. “I felt strong throughout the match and was able to use my defensive and offensive skills effectively.”
Looking ahead to his next match, Djokovic said that he was confident that he could continue playing well and make it all the way to the final. “Of course I’m not taking anything for granted,” he said. “But I feel good physically and mentally right now, so I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.”
