The Science Fair at Cunha Intermediate School has returned after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. After going remote in early spring 2020, the 2020-21 school year saw only 10 participants present their projects through a powerpoint slideshow. This year, however, marked a “return to normal” for the event, as expressed by Cunha science teacher Kurt Murray.
The poster boards at this year’s fair showcased a variety of scientific studies, including testing the strength of different brands of dental floss and whether teachers could distinguish assignments written by students or artificial intelligence. These in-person presentations were a refreshing change from two years of remote fairs and virtual submissions.
Coastside News Group photographer Anna Hoch-Kenney captured the event and the gallery is now available for viewing. The return to in-person science fair presentations was a significant milestone for Cunha Intermediate School and the community.
