The Florida Panthers have signed a multiyear agreement with Scripps Sports to broadcast their hockey games for free in West Palm Beach, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, and Fort Myers. This partnership aims to reach a wider audience and grow the sport of hockey in South Florida. Panthers President and CEO Matthew Caldwell expressed his excitement about the new agreement and looks forward to reaching new fans through Scripps’ distribution network.
Under this agreement, all locally produced games will air on different TV channels in each area. In West Palm Beach, WHDT-TV, Channel 9 will broadcast all locally produced games. In Miami/Fort Lauderdale, WSFL-TV, Channel 39 will air all locally produced games. For Fort Myers, Scripps Sports will announce the broadcast channel in advance of the next season. This allows Scripps Sports to televise all locally produced Panthers games, including preseason, regular-season, and round one of the postseason on cable, satellite, and over-the-air television.
In addition to broadcasting games, Scripps Sports and the Panthers will launch a team-branded direct-to-consumer application and co-produce a weekly Panthers program to provide fans with even more content and behind-the-scenes access. Brian Lawlor, Scripps Sports President, highlighted the importance of making all Panthers games available on various broadcast platforms for fans to enjoy.
More information regarding on-air talent and programming on Scripps will be announced in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting partnership between Scripps Sports and the Florida Panthers.
