Pittsburgh residents on Forbes’ 2024 list of the world’s billionaires

In 2024, Forbes released its annual list of the world’s billionaires, featuring many individuals with strong connections to Pittsburgh. The list included a total of 2,781 billionaires with a combined net worth of $14.2 trillion. Each person’s wealth was calculated using stock prices and exchange rates from March 8, 2024.

Among those who made it to the list were three individuals with strong ties to the Steel City: Maggie Hardy, Mark Cuban, and David Tepper. Additionally, Thomas Tull and Ron Burkle, both with ties to Pittsburgh, also made the cut.

David Tepper, known as one of the greatest hedge fund managers of his generation, ranked No. 94 with a net worth of $20.6 billion. Tepper founded Appaloosa Management in 1993 and owns the Carolina Panthers while having roots in Pittsburgh’s Stanton Heights neighborhood. Mark Cuban, with a net worth of $5.4 billion, came in at No. 563. Cuban grew up in Mt. Lebanon and recently sold his majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks while attending the University of Pittsburgh
