In honor of Career and Technical Education Month in February, the health science department at Simpson County Technical Center (SCTC) partnered with Mississippi Blood Services to host a spring blood drive on Feb. 6. The event was a success, with more than 20 pints of blood being collected, potentially saving many lives.
The students enrolled in the health science program at SCTC gained valuable skills through their involvement in this event. They had the opportunity to learn about event planning, teamwork, communication, and community engagement. Additionally, they developed an understanding of the significance of blood donations in healthcare, which helped to foster empathy and a sense of social responsibility.
Brenda White, the health science instructor, played a crucial role in organizing this event, and SCTC appreciates her hard work in making it a successful and impactful initiative.
