The US Senate has passed a foreign aid package by a large margin, with approximately 60 billion dollars of the total 95 billion dollars (around 55.6 billion euros) allocated to Ukraine. However, its future in the House of Representatives remains uncertain.
The Senate voted 67-27 in favor of the package, which will undergo final approval in the middle of the week. The vote required a simple majority, as initially reported. Despite this overwhelming support, it is likely that the aid package may not become law due to the Republican majority in the House of Representatives.
Republican Speaker Mike Johnson has not stated whether he plans to allow the package to go to a House vote. It is also important to note that while the Senate has approved the package, it has not yet been passed by both houses of Congress.
