In the latest move to bolster their running back group, the Steelers have signed La’Mical Perine to their 90-man roster. This comes after the addition of Jonathan Ward earlier in the week. Perine will join Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson in the backfield for Pittsburgh.
Perine brings some experience to the team having played in three regular season and three postseason games for the Chiefs last year. In the regular season, he ran 22 times for 77 yards and caught three passes for 33 yards, although he did not see any action in the playoffs. The former fourth-round pick by the Jets in 2020, Perine ran 72 times for 263 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games for his former team.
With the addition of Perine, the Steelers are shaping up their running back group with a mix of talent and experience. As they head into the upcoming season, the team is looking to solidify their backfield and create a strong running game to support their offense.
