After 36 years in business, The Rattlesnake Club restaurant in Detroit has closed its doors. Vice President and CFO Mark Tuttle expressed gratitude for the support of loyal customers and dedicated employees in a statement announcing the closure.
The restaurant first opened in 1988, but unfortunately could not recover following the impact of the COVID pandemic. Changing patterns in dining habits, office occupancy, and decreased traffic were cited as factors that negatively affected revenues. Private events, which were a significant aspect of the business, also did not bounce back after the pandemic.
Tuttle expressed appreciation for the support received from customers and the hard work of the restaurant’s employees. The closure marks the end of an era for the restaurant, which had been a staple in the Detroit dining scene for decades. The employees were informed of the closure on June 29 and were offered severance pay as a result. While it is difficult to say goodbye to such a beloved establishment, Tuttle expressed hope that customers would continue to support other local businesses that offer exceptional food and customer service like The Rattlesnake Club had done over its long-standing history.
