Plans are underway for the next TJS event, which will take place in May 2025. The Jewelry Symposium (TJS), formerly known as the Santa Fe Symposium, recently concluded its second jewelry tech conference. This international event focuses on advancing jewelry manufacturing technology and attracted over 100 attendees, including jewelers, students, and experts, who came together to discuss critical topics related to jewelry making in the 21st century.
This year’s TJS featured seventeen distinguished speakers from leading manufacturers and trade associations such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Platinum Guild International (PGI), and a former expert from the World Gold Council (WGC). Presentation topics ranged from traditional jewelry crafting techniques like pressed metal molds and guilloche ornamentation to cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing (3D printing).
In addition to formal sessions, attendees had extensive networking opportunities to engage in one-on-one discussions and exchange ideas, inspirations, and best practices. “We are thrilled by the enthusiastic response we have received to the TJS 2024 event,” says TJS board chairman Linus Drogs. “The most popular topic was AI and how it will impact the future of jewelry making.” He further stated that the industry will face similar challenges and opportunities with AI technology as it did with computer-aided design in the past.
