Unwanted Tragedy: Nugzari Tsurtsumia Leaves Behind a Legacy in Wrestling

Nugzari Tsurtsumia (GEO) was a wrestling champion who passed away at the age of 27 in his hometown of Khobi, Georgia. The wrestling community is mourning his loss after he won a bronze medal at the Budapest Ranking Series in June and five World Championship medals, including gold at the 2019 World Championships. He also won four medals at the European Championships and had great success at the age-group level, earning medals at various European Championships and becoming the U23 world champion in 2018. United World Wrestling, the Georgian Wrestling Federation, and the wrestling community are deeply saddened by his death and sending their thoughts to his family during this difficult time.
