VA Healthcare Center Exposed to Patient Violence for Second Time in Four Years, Leaving Staff Unsafe and Overexposed

The Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System’s Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott, Arizona has been found to have exposed its staff to patient violence for the second time in four years, according to OSHA. Healthcare workers at the facility were reportedly subjected to physical violence, including kicking, biting, striking, punching, slapping and sexual harassment from residents of the facility.

The medical center was issued a notice of unsafe working conditions by federal agencies despite being exempt from OSHA violations and penalties. Despite this exemption, it is crucial for employers to prioritize the safety and well-being of their workers.
