In Shoreham, a fire broke out on Tuesday night at the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, the former laboratory of renowned scientist Nikola Tesla. Suffolk police confirmed that the fire was reported at 4:49 p.m. on the corner of Tesla and Robinson streets. Dozens of firefighters from various departments were quickly summoned to the scene to fight the blaze.

An hour after the report of the fire, firefighters were still on site, battling the flames that were leaping out of the northeast portion of the main building on the site, just below Tesla’s famous peak. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, but it is being investigated by local authorities.
