Kyle Busch secures pole position for Dover Cup starting lineup

Coverage of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover Motor Speedway on Sunday will begin with qualifying, where Kyle Busch emerged as the fastest Chevrolet driver. He was one of four Chevy drivers to make it to the final round of qualifying, alongside William Byron, Alex Bowman, and AJ Allmendinger. Byron finished in third place, while Bowman and Allmendinger came in ninth and tenth respectively.

Ryan Blaney was the fastest Ford driver during qualifying, coming in second behind Busch. Noah Gragson, Chase Briscoe, and Michael McDowell also made it to the second round of qualifying for Ford. Unfortunately, Erik Jones will miss Sunday’s race after sustaining a compression fracture in a lower vertebra last week at Talladega.

Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin were the only Toyota drivers to make it to the second round of qualifying. Martin Truex Jr., who won last season’s race at Dover, qualified in 15th place. Jimmie Johnson, an eleven-time winner at Dover, had the fifth-fastest time during practice but qualified in 27th place. The race is set to start at 2:11 p.m., with coverage on FS1 starting with NASCAR RaceDay at 1 p.m.
