As the T20 World Cup approaches, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has shared his insights on India’s squad selection. In a video posted by Star Sports, he offered his ideal lineup for the tournament. According to Pathan, Rohit Sharma should open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, with Virat Kohli at number three and Suryakumar Yadav at number four in the batting order. Pathan also recommended Rinku Singh, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja for positions five through eight.
Pathan discussed the spin department and suggested that Kuldeep Yadav should be included in the squad. He also noted that there should be a choice between Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal for another spinner. Although both bowlers are skilled, Pathan preferred Bishnoi due to his fielding abilities. For fast bowling, he recommended Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj.
Regarding an extra batter debate between Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson, Pathan said that one could potentially be a traveling reserve if not selected in the main squad. In summary, Irfan Pathan’s suggested India squad for the T20 World Cup includes: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Rishabh Pant (WK), Shivam Dube
