The Miami Dolphins had a successful draft, with their first round selection of potential 10-sack edge rusher Chop Robinson and offensive tackle Patrick Paul setting the tone. While their trade-up for Jaylen Wright in the fourth round was a bit perplexing, overall they acquired a good group of players.
In my opinion, the most impressive pick from the Dolphins’ draft was Patrick Paul, an offensive tackle from Houston who has exceptional athleticism and is just beginning to showcase his true potential. Standing at 6-7 and 330 pounds, he has raw talent and is expected to make impressive plays in head coach Mike McDaniel’s offense.
On the other hand, my least favorite pick was Jaylen Wright, a running back from Tennessee taken in the fourth round. While speed is important for Coach McDaniel, Wright may not be the ideal replacement for De’Von Achane when Raheem Mostert eventually moves on. Wright struggles with vision and running between the tackles, and McDaniel may need to see that not all fast running backs are equal.
The Dolphins’ draft picks included Chop Robinson in the first round, Mohamed Kamara in the fifth round, Malik Washington in the sixth round, Patrick McMorris in the sixth round, Tahj Washington in the seventh round as well.
