McKenna, Maresca, and Frank named as potential candidates for Chelsea job

Chelsea is currently in the market for a new manager after the departure of Mauricio Pochettino by mutual consent. The club has already drawn up a list of potential candidates, including Kieran McKenna from Ipswich Town, Enzo Maresca from Leicester City, and Thomas Frank from Brentford.

McKenna, who is 38 years old, recently led Ipswich to promotion to the Championship and is said to be a leading contender for the Chelsea job. However, there are other interested parties as well, including Brighton and Manchester United. It’s reported that he would cost upwards of £4 million in compensation.

Maresca, who is 44 years old, previously led Leicester to the Championship title and has experience coaching at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. Frank, a 50-year-old Danish coach, has been successful in getting Brentford promoted to the Premier League and maintaining their position in the top flight.

Chelsea also has a fourth ‘mystery’ candidate on their shortlist – Sebastian Hoeness from Stuttgart was previously rumored to be an option but is now expected to stay in Germany.

Chelsea’s players who are not with their national teams will begin pre-season training on July 4th and will travel to the United States for a tour under the new management. Last season, Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League and reached the Carabao Cup final where they were defeated by Liverpool.
