Exciting news: Students to start painting mural for upcoming Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown!

In downtown Allentown, the new Da Vinci Science Center will be a colorful addition to the community thanks to the talents of an artist from Bethlehem and hundreds of students. Starting Thursday morning, about 300 students are involved in painting a mural that will be installed on the wall of the new science center. The mural, which is 120 feet long, was designed by local artist and Bethlehem Area School District art teacher Carla Majczan with the help of her students at Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers.

The children produced boxes full of art and ideas based on Carla’s lesson plans for art and science. Carla sorted through all of those boxes to create the final mural design, which is directly based on the children’s drawings and designs. The kids will meet Thursday morning in the gym at the Judith Chase Early Learning Center on Chew Street to start painting. The mural will be installed at the new science center in late May or early June, with an opening date set for May 22.
